this is us –

writing no in a green book
in rooms which are not yet
ready for us
writing let me be

after: “  instructions for fate” – Via Negativa|Erasure poem fashioned from The Diary of Samuel Pepys

this is us –
shouting or deadly soft
for the silences
in stockings
as silken as no one is fault-less
this leaves little room for the barefoot thought
this is Love
and there are no passages left in this book
the ending as spacious as we are not
ready for us

I write because words scrape and itch to be given body and form. Never underestimate the seductive power of a decent vocabulary.

  1. Quite a “spacious” discovery in this compact verse. There is an interesting twist in no one being faultless and no more passages left — you capture this end, this decision to let it go (“not ready for us” is quite a dramatic turn of a phrase) in a wonderful manner. Also loved the bit about “barefoot thought”.
Even in these few words, you have so very well crafted a scene one can not help but gawk at, as in a play.
